Limitations: Advice is based on the information provided by the GP. Recommendations should be reviewed clinically.
These Terms of use outline your responsibilities when using DevPaed Connect. By submitting a case through DevPaed Connect FOXO platform, you confirm you have read and agree to the following:
Scope of Service
DevPaed Connect provides advice and case discussion between GPs
and specialist paediatric services. Patients and families do not
attend Quick Advice or Multidisciplinary Case Conference (MDCC)
sessions. The service is designed to support GPs with clinical
decision-making and shared care planning. DevPaed Connect does not
replace formal referral pathways where ongoing specialist care is
required.
Consent
You must obtain verbal or written consent from the child’s
parent/carer before submitting any case and by submitting the case
you warrant to Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service that you
have obtained such consent.
You must inform the family or carer of a patient:
– The consultation is between you as the patient’s GP and
specialist clinicians (not a direct patient consultation).
– Information shared will be stored securely within FOXO and used
only for clinical purposes.
– A written record of advice/case conference will be provided back
to you as the GP for upload into the patient’s clinical record.
– The service may recommend ongoing specialist care through
DevPaed Connect or related services including mental health
services, in which case the family’s consent extends to acceptance
of referral.
Clinical Responsibility
Unless explicitly stated otherwise, you as the patient’s GP retain
overall duty of care for the patient and responsibility for
coordination of care. The advice provided is based solely on the
information supplied and is intended to support, not replace, your
own professional clinical judgement.
If DevPaed Connect formally accepts referral for specialist
assessment or ongoing management, a duty of care will then also be
established between the specialist service and the patient. Such
transfer of care will be clearly documented and communicated to
both GP and family.
It is your responsibility to:
– Upload the PDF summary into the patient’s clinical record.
– Ensure the advice is applied appropriately in the context of the
full patient history.
– Seek urgent or emergency services if the clinical situation
requires it.
Waitlist Management and Re-entry
If, following case discussion or review, GCHHS determines that a
patient does not require ongoing care from the Child Development
Service (CDS), the patient will be removed from the CDS waitlist
and you will be notified.
If future care is required, a new referral must be submitted
through the standard referral process.
Patients re-referred within 12 months of removal may be eligible
for a streamlined re-entry process, subject to CDS triage and
service criteria.
Documentation
Quick Advice requests will generate a PDF record of the written
consultation.
MDCC participation will generate a PDF record of the discussion
and a care plan.
These documents are provided for upload into your practice’s
clinical software to ensure continuity of care. They will also be
uploaded internally to the Gold Coast Health electronic medical
record.
Limitations of Service
DevPaed Connect is not an emergency service. Urgent or
life-threatening presentations should be managed through standard
acute care pathways.
Response times:
– Quick Advice – within 1–2 business days
– MDCC – bookings generally available within 1–2 weeks (urgent
cases prioritised)
The service capacity is limited (e.g. maximum of 8 MDCC sessions
per week).
Privacy & Data
All communication occurs via FOXO, a secure messaging and
collaboration platform approved for use within Queensland Health.
Data is managed in accordance with Gold Coast Hospital and Health
Service’s Privacy Policy consistent with its privacy obligations
in the Information Privacy Act (Qld).
Professional Obligations
You remain responsible for ensuring your participation meets
relevant professional and legal standards. Participation in MDCCs
may be eligible for MBS Case Conference billing and/or CPD
self-claim, but it is your responsibility to satisfy yourself as
to your eligibility under RACGP/ACRRM and MBS rules.
Confirmation
By submitting a case, you confirm that:
– Parent/carer consent has been obtained.
– You acknowledge and accept your responsibility for ongoing care
of the patient unless DevPaed Connect has formally accepted
referral.
– You understand the limitations and scope of this service.
